The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has resigned as the chief federal prosecutor in the state. This comes after a court battle that challenged her legal standing to serve.
Official Departure
US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, confirmed the prosecutor's departure on Monday. Bondi stated that the judicial decision made it impossible for Habba to effectively run her office.
"Let no one confuse adherence to the ruling as defeat," she declared. "The effort will now extend throughout the country."

Habba's exit follows closely on a judicial panel found that she had been unlawfully serving as the top prosecutor. This judgment is expected to impact scores of criminal cases in the Garden State.
The judicial panel declared that a temporary posting that skirted the advice and consent of the Senate violated the statute on vacant positions.

It was also stated that Habba will continue working within the justice department as a senior adviser. Habba plans to seek further review of the ruling, with hopes of a reversal.
On a social media platform, she contended that the court "cannot be permitted to countermand the President's choice of prosecutors responsible for carrying out the fundamental role of the presidency of prosecuting crime."

Bondi commended Habba's record and said that under her leadership, the Newark saw a significant drop in offenses. It was also reported that the Camden recorded its first summer in half a century with no murders.
Background and Previous Role
The 41-year-old attorney, first joined the former president's legal defense in recent years. She went on to acted for the former president in his hush-money trial in New York last year, when he was guilty verdict on dozens of charges of falsifying business records.
Earlier, Habba took on the federal prosecutor position, Trump had stated he was appointing her as his senior adviser in a potential future term, calling her as "unwavering in her loyalty" and a dedicated fighter for justice.
