Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team access places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
