Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
