Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at Age 60.
Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series including Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles this Monday following treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, according to media reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Career on Screen
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of hit series, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a comedy group of six called "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
